GMAT Exam Delivered at a Test Center

What ID do I need to bring to my test center?

Am I allowed to use a calculator during my exam?

You are not allowed to bring your own calculator for the exam. A calculator will be provided for use during the Integrated Reasoning section only. Calculators are not permitted during the Quantitative section. You will be provided with note Board and markers to work out your calculations on the Quantitative section.

What if I need my cellular (mobile) phone at the test center?

You may not bring your cellular (mobile) phone into the testing room, nor may you check or use your phone during breaks. You may store your phone in a locker during your test, but the test administrator is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If you do access your cell phone at any time during your exam time, your exam will be cancelled and your exam fee will be forfeited. If there is an emergency, you may ask the test administrator to use the test center’s telephone during breaks.

Can I access anything from the storage locker during break?

You are permitted to access snacks and necessary items, such as medication that has to be taken at a specified time. You may not access study aids, phones, or other electronic devices during breaks.

What if I need more break time than I am given?

Breaks are timed, and any extra time taken will be deducted from the time you are given to complete the next section. Testing accommodations are available for test takers who meet certain eligibility criteria and properly document their request.

What if I need an unscheduled break?

If there is an emergency, raise your hand to get the administrator’s attention. The administrator will set your workstation to break mode, and you may leave the testing room. The exam timer will NOT stop during your unscheduled break.

GMAT Exam Delivered Online

What locations can I take the exam in?

The GMAT exam delivered online is available in all locations, with the exception of: Mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan due to regulatory and local data privacy rules.

Please note that proctoring and support for the GMAT exam delivered online is only offered in English. There will be no local language support available.

Is the exam recorded?

Yes. The exam session is recorded from the start of the check-in process. Recording will continue until completion of the exam.

Who will have access to my online proctored exam session?

Your online proctored exam is delivered through GMAC’s delivery partners The platform that your exam is delivered on adheres to local privacy and data laws in 190 global locations. Your exam session will be monitored by a trained proctor, and your session will be recorded, both audio and video. In addition, your check-in details including the photo and/or photo ID collected of you and your test location, as well as your provided identification, may be stored according to relevant local privacy and data laws.

What if I have a question or issue during the exam?

If you have a question or an issue during the exam, please click on the chat link within the test delivery application or wave your hand to speak to the proctor.

What happens if there is a technical issue before or during my exam?

If you encounter a technical issue that prevents you from starting your exam, your proctor will work with you to resolve the issue. If your issue cannot be resolved, your appointment will be cancelled, and you will be able to register for and take the exam.

If there is a technical issue after you have started the exam, you can bring it to the attention of the proctor by raising your hand or starting a chat session from the exam window. The proctor will attempt to assist you promptly. If your technical issue cannot be resolved, or you are unable to proceed with your exam, your session will be ended. In this situation, you may be allowed to register and take the exam again at no additional cost.

What if I experience a technical issue on one or both of my attempts?

If you experience a technical issue* on multiple attempts, you may be directed to take the exam at a test center instead.

To avoid running into any technical issues we highly recommend you ensure your setup meets ALL system requirements and complete your system test well in advance of test day.

*GMAT reserve the right to verify all technical issues and approve additional attempts.

How can I test the secure browser to make sure it is installed properly?

Once the secure browser application is installed on your computer you do not have to do anything else. On exam day the secure browser will launch automatically when your exam is started. Please note, that secure browser shouldn’t be opened separately. If you have any issues with the secure browser on exam day, your proctor will be able to assist with troubleshooting.

If I have scheduled my GMAT exam at a test center, can I transfer that registration to an online exam delivery?

Currently you cannot transfer your test center registration to an online delivery. You will need to cancel your test center appointment and book a new appointment for the GMAT exam delivered online.

If I have a GMAT Exam Voucher can I use it to pay for the GMAT exam delivered online?

Currently GMAT exam vouchers for exams at a test center cannot be applied to GMAT exams delivered online, and GMAT vouchers for the online exam cannot be applied to GMAT exams delivered at a test center.
