Our History with CAT (Common Admission Test)

Our association with CAT started in 2016. We started a GMCAT Course which was a hybrid course combining GMAT and CAT Preparation course. We found that the success rate in GMCAT is much higher compared to GMAT course. We also observed that preparing for both GMAT & CAT helped aspirants in both the tests.

CAT 2016 & 2017 results at a glance:

The success rate of Leading Institutes, which provides preparatory courses for CAT, is not more than 1-2% i.e. 1-2 students out of 100 end up getting more than 99 overall percentile whereas our success rate is close to 9-12%.

Differences and Similarities Between the CAT and GMAT

GMAT & CAT have the same syllabus, both deal with Mathematics and English. Both tests in a way complement each other. Most of the sections & syllabus in both the tests are common.

GMAT & CAT Section-wise Analysis:

Verbal Section

Sentence Correction: Both exams require candidates to spot grammatical errors. There is one manageable difference. GMAT SC is based on American English while CAT SC is based on British English.

Reading Comprehension: The passages in the CAT and GMAT are almost equally cryptic. RC in GMAT is more difficult than that in CAT.

Critical Reasoning: GMAT CR is tougher than CAT CR. If you are prepared for GMAT CR, then CAT CR is a cakewalk.

Quantitative Section

CAT preparation will make GMAT Quant a kid's play. The good news is that many CAT topics such as logarithms, trigonometry, calendars, clocks, shares, etc are not tested in GMAT.

Analytical writing assessment

GMAT tests your clarity of thinking in this section. It looks for content, the organization of thought process, language skills and writing mechanisms in evaluating the essays. The good news is that the AWA is not a tough section to ace.

GMAT & CAT Tabular Comparison

Both GMAT & CAT are the most popular MBA entrance examinations. Most of the Business Schools in India accept CAT or GMAT score. In India, the number of B-schools accepting GMAT scores is higher than those accepting CAT score. Please refer GMAT Accepting Schools in India

Batch Size, Student-Faculty Ratio

We prefer small batch sizes of around 7-9 students in a classroom as well as in a Live Online mode.

Admission Standard Operating Procedure

Every new student is mapped into a “Zero Group” for a week. Zero group is also called “Introductory Phase Group”. After a week, based on everyone's performance in "Mapping Phase", students are divided into five different IQ groups.

Our Internal Mapping System is a process to mark or rate students on the basis of their Intellect, Intelligence (IQ), Aptitude, Attitude, and Commitment

Our Mapping system also helps us in making “Homogeneous Batches”. Similarly mapped students are grouped into the same batches.

Batch Selection Methodology

We follow a scientific selection process in batch-allocation. Batches are made based on the student’s "IQ Parameter Mapping". Same mapped students are grouped into the same batch. In this way, we create homogenous groups in terms of Intellect, Intelligence (IQ), Aptitude, Attitude, and Commitment.

Every Batch is provided with a unique and customized solution. The solutions are not only different in its content but also in course structure, syllabus, approach, class schedule and program pace.

Elite Batches

We offer two Elite batches: "90+ percentile Batch" & "96+ percentile Batch". Both batches come with "Money-Back Guarantee". New Students cannot opt for these batches, the admission is through "Invitations" only. Students of regular batches are offered seats in these batches on the basis of their performance.

CAT Course Structure

All the CAT courses whether regular or customized are unique in their structure.

All Phases of the course are designed to be as personalized as a "One-on-One" Instruction.

All Courses are divided into four phases:

  1. Introductory or Mapping Phase (One-on-One Stage): This phase is employed at the beginning and usually takes 2-4 sessions. In this phase, teachers try to analyze every student in the batch by their interaction with them. Even a Mapping test is taken to gauge a student IQ level. This step takes 10% of total course time.

  2. Foundation Phase (Batch Stage): It covers all the basics (Content & Applications) of all sections of the course. This phase is around 20-50% of the whole course.

  3. Testing Phase (One-on-One Stage): This phase involves Computer Adaptive Tests, Computer-Based Tests, and Paper Based Tests. Every course comes with a commitment of “Minimum Tests” i.e. a minimum number of tests which a student has to attempt to complete the course.

  4. Control Phase (One-on-One Stage): This last Phase is to look into any gaps in test preparation.

What is the maximum number of Tests offered?

No Limit. We don’t assign a numerical value to it. The objective of the Testing Phase is to improve a student's ability. Tests for any student will not stop till a student reaches his/her optimal performance level.

The primary objective of Testing Phase is to search for student's 'Optimal saturation level'.  This stage can also be defined as a stage where Concept, Application and Practice variable will not have any effect on the score.
