CAT 2026 Exam Overview:
The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 is the premier national-level entrance exam for admission into India’s 21 IIMs and over 1,200 other top business schools. Conducted annually by the IIMs on a rotational basis, CAT assesses your aptitude for management education.
Key Highlights for CAT 2026
Exam Date (Tentative): November 29, 2026 (Last Sunday of November).
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD). Final-year students are eligible.
Exam Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 2 hours (120 minutes).
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The paper is divided into three timed sections (40 minutes each):
1. VARC (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension):Focuses on critical reading, grammar, and verbal logic.
2. DILR (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning): Tests analytical skills using charts, graphs, and complex puzzles.
3. QA (Quantitative Ability): Covers Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Modern Math.
Questions are a mix of MCQs and TITA (Type-In-The-Answer). Correct answers award +3 marks, while incorrect MCQs carry a -1 penalty.

Admission Standard Operating Procedure
Your Personalized Start: The Diagnostic Week Every student learns differently. To ensure you get the most out of your prep, you will start in an Introductory Diagnostic Phase. Over one week, we work with you to map your current strengths in Logic and Quant. You are matched into one of 5 Percentile-Specific Batches, ensuring high-efficiency learning with other students. Our Mapping system also helps us in making “Homogeneous Batches”. Similarly mapped students are grouped into the same batches.
Batch Selection Methodology
We follow a scientific selection process in batch-allocation. Batches are made based on the student’s “IQ Parameter Mapping”. Same mapped students are grouped into the same batch. In this way, we create homogenous groups in terms of Intellect, Intelligence (IQ), Aptitude, Attitude, and Commitment.

CAT Course Structure
All the CAT courses whether regular or customized are unique in their structure.
All Phases of the course are designed to be as personalized as a “One-on-One” Instruction.
All Courses are divided into four phases:
- Introductory or Mapping Phase (One-on-One Stage): This phase is employed at the beginning and usually takes 2-4 sessions. In this phase, GMCAT Instructors try to analyze every student in the batch by their interaction with them. This step takes 10% of total course time.
- Foundation Phase (Batch Stage): It covers basics of all sections of CAT & GMAT. This phase is around 20-50% of the whole course.
- Testing Phase (One-on-One Stage): This phase involves Computer Adaptive Tests, Computer Based Tests, and Paper Based Tests. Every course comes with a commitment of “Minimum Tests” i.e. a minimum number of tests which a student has to attempt to complete the course.
- Control Phase (One-on-One Stage): This last Phase is to look into any gaps in test preparation.
